Carol Duvall Show - pass the word

This was on another list and I felt it important to spread the word so you can have your say on their website if you will miss the Carol Duvall Show as much as I will:

Subject: Carol Duvall Show - Important Message

Ladies, I had occasion to speak with a person connected with the Carol Duval Show today. Apparently HGTV is not planning to make any new Carol Duval Shows, but just rerun the old ones.

This is not Carol Duval's choice. She is in good health, and not planning to retire, as rumored. She would like to go on bringing us new, exciting, different and cutting edge craft ideas as she always has.

I think it would be a good idea if stampers and scrappers weighed in on this situation. We all need to let HGTV know that Carol has inspired and challenged us over these many years, and we wish for her to continue to do so.

Below are the links to HGTV. You can select the Carol Duval Show from the menu and write your own comment in the box.

Please send your comments to HGTV so that they know that the crafters care about Carol Duval, and her show, and we want to keep her on the air until it is her choice to leave (which we hope is never)! Carol Duval has meant so much to so many people, it's time for us to show her and HGTV, that it didn't go unnoticed. Please feel free to pass this message on to other craft related lists.

Okay I am SOOOOOOOOOOO confused.... this was just listed on the Creative Card group (yesterday) from RJ.

" Thank you for your e-mail concerning the Carol Duvall Show. Carol's show has not been cancelled by HGTV nor do we have any plans to cancel her show. Carol is under contract with HGTV for the next couple of years - her contract has not recently come up for renewal. Carol is currently taping over 100 new episodes scheduled to air soon. Carol's older episodes will continue to air on our sister network, DIY. Hope this helps and thank you for your interest.

As you can see - dead opposite!

A friend of mine sent a comment to the HGTV site and they responded back that this is a hoax. They have Carol signed for at least 2 more years of shows and right now she is shooting 100 new shows for the year. Wahoo! I really love her show!

I just received the same message back.

I am surprised because the person who first posted it on the Stamptalk list was the one who actually claimed to have spoken with someone from the show.

Somebody is telling a fib. And I'm not convinced that it is the Stamptalker. If it is possible that HGTV is fibbing, I hope that the outpouring of support for the show has convinced them that the Carol Duvall Show's supposedly high production costs are not a reason to dump her show. She has a huge following.

We might not all be in the valued age 18 - 35 category who advertisers covet, but as we (and our husbands) know, we who are over 35 spend a large amount of money on art/stamping supplies. We know what we want, and we're not a throwaway audience who will accept a substitute show. I'm not tuning in to the HGTV or DIY scrapbooking show or their knitting and crafts shows if Carol is dropped.

I don't automatically believe the automated reply that I received.

More likely the person on your list simply passed along something received from elsewhere, verbatim, including the "I talked to so-and-so" bit. People do that all the time, with no ill intent, because they care about the cause and are a little sloppy about the attribution.

Unfortunately, every single time I've bothered to check out one of these "everybody write to X to protest Y" e-mails, on-line petition drives, etc., they've proven to be either years out of date or never accurate in the first place. So I just delete them unread.

Nahh it happens. Your post just stunned me! :-) I just read differently. lol oh well!

Carol is the ONLY reason I watch DIY (and thats rare). BBC has much better programmes than anything on DIY. I end up shaking my head at most of the "how to" programmes.

This is from the person who was at the Carol Duvall set - and I tend to believe her. HGTV is apparently not being truthful to us.

Quoted from Stamptalk with person's name removed -

You must know that I would not participate in an urban legend! I was on the set of the Carol Duvall Show yesterday. I have business with one of her producers. I was told exactly what the status is. While HGTV is not canceling her show they will simply not be producing any more of them after March 29. No urban legend, no mistaken information, they are finished producing any new shows as of that date. Her shows will rerun on the DIY network, and she will be doing some intros and voice overs for some segments, maybe some specials, but no more new shows.

The show has been put on indefinite hiatus. HGTV sends out their stock answer that the show has not been canceled, but they do not tell you the true fact which is that no more new shows are planned. I still think if they get enough letters they will resspond to what the viewers want. I sure hope so!
