REQUEST FOR DISCUSSION (RFD) unmoderated group rec.crafts.rubberstamps

This is a formal Request For Discussion (RFD) for the creation of an unmoderated Usenet Newsgroup rec.crafts.rubberstamps. This is not a Call For Votes (CFV); you cannot vote at this time.

We are proposing to create a new newsgroup for the discussion of the craft of rubberstamping. The name of the newsgroup will be rec.crafts.rubberstamps . The group will be unmoderated.

Newsgroup line: rec.crafts.rubberstamps

RATIONALE: rec.crafts.rubberstamps

The craft of rubberstamping has enjoyed a great increase in interest and popularity in the last several years. People of all ages and abilities are able to enjoy the craft of rubberstamping and have a desire to meet together to discuss their craft, techniques, supplies, arrange swaps, and improve their knowledge of their craft.

There is currently no newsgroup to discuss the craft of rubberstamping. A mailing list does exist but is too active for many rubberstamp crafters to participate in; and, as a result many rubberstamp crafters have no place to discuss and share their craft. This newsgroup would not replace the mailing list but would be a compliment to it and enable many more rubberstamp crafters to have a place to discuss their craft.

CHARTER: rec.crafts.rubberstamps

The purpose of the newsgroup is to facilitate open discussion of the craft of rubberstamping. It will provide a global forum to discuss topics concerning rubberstamping, techniques, supplies, and arrange swaps.

The group will be unmoderated.

**** >>>Postings from vendors advertising their products and sales are welcome

provided they announce the word vendor in the subject line of their posting.

Small binary files will be welcome only if they are announced in the subject line.

END CHARTER.

PROCEDURE:

This is a request for discussion, not a call for votes. In this phase of the process, any potential problems with the proposed newsgroup should be raised and resolved. The discussion period will continue for a minimum of 21 days (starting from when the first RFD for this proposal is posted to news.announce.newsgroups). All discussion should be posted to news.groups.

At the end of the discussion period, a Call for Votes (CFV) will be posted by a neutral vote taker, probably the Usenet Volunteer Votetakers (UVV). The voting procedure will be clearly described in the CFV when the time to vote arrive. Now is NOT the time to vote.

This RFD attempts to fully comply with Usenet newsgroup creation guidelines outlined in How to Create a New Usenet Newsgroup: and Writing an RFD . Please refer to these documents if you have questions about the process.
