Need help on painting Crocs flip flops...

I'm trying to find some way to make paint stick to Croc's flip flop sandals...used acyrlic and enamel paints...they crack and flake off...put polyurethane on after painting...still crack...tried India ink...not bright enough..I want to use loud colors like neon colors...tried permanent markers...stays on but fades...any ideas on what I might use to paint the Croc's...that won't fade, crack..withstand the elements( water, etc.) and stay bright??? any suggestions would be appreciated...thanks...Gus in cajun country..

Have you tried alcohol inks? Pinata, or Tim Holtz' Ranger inks? Might work. HTH... Louise

What about FLOAM? It comes in a bunch of neon colors. It's sold with kids' craft stuff. You can get it at Wal-Mart, Michael's, etc.

can use it to "paint" objects. Let it dry and cover with lacqueror varnish to waterproof it. You can paint over it, too.Are you going to wear these after they're painted? I don't reallyknow of any paint that will flex enough to hold up to the flip-flopsbeing worn without cracking.

Yes, Michaels and AC Moore have the Tim Holtz' inks... in the rubber stamping department. There are also Pantone inks, but I think you might have to go to an Art supply store. Also, how about the inks that they sell in the calligraphy dep't? I know that the alcohol inks attach themselves well to plastics... they dry almost immediately. Pinata inks might be an on-line purchase, but at least you can try the Ranger inks; and... use a 40 % coupon! I have used them on glass, plastic, paper, and my hands. Always use rubber gloves with them... they will re-do a manicure! HTH.. Louise

There is an article in the newest (May/June) issue of "The Rubber Stamper" magazine about creating 3-D images that are completely flexible, crack-resistant, bold-colored, and weather-proof. When I read the article, I immediately thought about this post. You might want to obtain a copy of the new issue, because I think the technique described in the article could maybe be adapted to paint your flip- flops.

Hmm...posted yesterday but didn't go through so trying again...

There's an article in the May issue of The Rubber Stamper magazine that describes a technique for creating flexible, 3-D, waterproof images from stamps. Perhaps the technique could be adapted for your needs. You may wish to check it out!
