Bernina bobbins

Hello,

It's been awhile since I last posted here. The newsgroup didn't work in a very long time and DH fixed it last night. I have a question, are the bobbins stated here in this link

are the original Bernina bobbins that you can buy in the Bernina store? is the price reasonable or expensive? my Bernina came only with 4 bobbins and would like to have more. I never had checked this in my local Bernina and I don't drive. Would someone tell me how much are the bobbins in any Bernina store and how many are in the pack before I buy this? if it will help, I have Activa 145, also are these bobbins can be used in my machine? thanks for any input.

Mira,

The price is reasonable. I used to buy extra bobbins almost every time I went into a Bernina store, and they were $1 each, plus tax. So $12.95 plus $2.00 shipping for 20 is a good price.

The bobbin pictured looks like the ones that fit my 1230. Several years ago Bernina began using a textured center post, instead of a smooth one, to distinguish their bobbins from others that looked nearly identical...at least, that's what my dealer told me.

I can't speak to whether they fit the Activa 145, because I don't have that model.

That looks like the standard Type 15 bobbin, the so-called Universal bobbin that fits the front-loading machines with the type 15 removable bobbin case.

Unless your machine has the numbers listed as exceptions, it should fit.

The ad does say "genuine" actually. And the seller has a 99.8% positive rating though I have never purchased anything from her/him. They look like the bobbins I use in my 931. But I do not know if they are the correct ones for the Activa. I have, however, purchased Bernina bobbins from IBLAWSON on eBay with excellent service and quality merchandise.

It'll be on the packet they came in, if anywhere. There's a list of Bernina model numbers in the listing. Check the model number of your machine (either on the machine or in the instruction book), and if it isn't one of the listed exceptions, they should be good to go.

The bobbin designation comes from the type of machine this bobbin was originally designed for: the Singer Type 15, with the separate bobbin case. You can see my treadle 15-88 on my web site in the sewing machine gallery. I have several dozen of these bobbins as they fit both the treadle (1936 vintage) and the Viscount 2000 (1980's vintage). They also fit my Frister & Rossman Cub 8, and many other makes and models of machine.

Mira, those are the bobbins I use for my 1130. They work just fine.
