Bobbin Problems

Hi everyone! I=B4m new in this group and I was wondering if anyone could help. I have a Singer 6785 which I absolutely adore and has always run like a dream. I have recently moved houses and I was making new curtains for my bedroom when the bobbin just "went". I don=B4t know how to explain it better, it doesn=B4t catch, it doesn=B4t rewind, nothing. I have cleaned the machine and checked for anything obvious out of place but I can=B4t see anything. The problem is, I live in a small village in Spain and there is no Singer maintenance/repair service anywhere remotely near.

I=B4ve had this machine for almost 10 years (I bought it second hand from a lovely lady in Belgium) and it has always been given TLC. I will finish my curtains on my miniature machine but I would love to have my Singer back in action.

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance for your kindness

Monica

Look down in the bobbin area and see if the hook, large and round is moving. If it is not you have a broken gear. If it is it still may have a broken gear or some other thing that has upset the hook to needle relationship

Thank you so much for your help Mr Anderson. The hook is not moving, so broken gear it is.

As a professional, what would you recommend I do? Is it worth fixing (I would have to ship it to another town) or should I consider investing in a newer or different machine? The kind of use I give it is quite heavy in terms of fabrics: curtains, duvet covers, cushion and pillow covers, etc. I have just begun to work with patchwork and I was hoping to give quilting a go.

I=B4d very much appreciate and value the opinion of fellow group members as well as Mr Anderson=B4s.

Thanks, Monica

If you are handy and email me off list with a part number off the gear, sorry I do not have access to parts books for the Euro models, perhaps I can assist you in repairing your machine. As far as worth, only you can determine that. After all it is your money.
