Looking for a Santa pattern

This is a long shot but I thought I'd try it.

I once made a Santa from a BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS special Christmas book. (The hardcover kind they put out just for Christmas patterns, ideas, recipes, etc.) I'm not sure they are still making these books and I have not the slightest idea what year I'm looking for.

I remember that the Santa was fairly tall (over a foot, I'd say) and his body construction was sort of unsual in that the tubes for the legs were actually part of the "body" of the Santa, too. He may have had hair made from unraveled rope but I'm not positive about that. I think the tubes of the legs being part of the torso is probably the biggest identifying factor in the construction of the doll.

I made one and sold it and I really would like to make another one for myself. If anyone has back issues of BH&G Christmas books and would check them for this Santa doll, I'd be forever grateful. If I could find the year he was in, maybe I can find the book on eBay. In fact, if you check and DON'T find him in a certain year, I'd like to know that, too. Maybe I can find the pattern through eliminating the years he's NOT in.

I've checked my county library but I'm in such a rural part of Indiana, they didn't have ANY issues of this book available.

Thanks for any help.

"FragileWarrior"

I've just found eBay item number 200016489429, which is the 1992 edition of BH&G's Christmas book, and there is an old-world Santa on the book's cover. If this is not the one you're looking for, post again, and I'll keep looking.

Thanks, Betty. I looked through those last night and missed that one, I guess. That MIGHT be it. (Mine was better, tho'. :)) I managed to snag another copy of it for $3.42 INCLUDING shipping. I *love* eBay.

Thanks again for the help.

Glad I could help. I can't count the times I've wanted something that at first appeared impossible to find, only to find it on eBay with little to no trouble. I lost a treasured cookbook that I had 35 years ago, and I had decided long before I registered with eBay that the cookbook was in history's dustbin. About three years after I began buying on eBay, it suddenly occurred to me that I might be able to find the cookbook, even though I couldn't remember the name. I entered as much as I could recall about the publisher in the search box, and several choices were presented. Among them were three copies of *my* cookbook, and all I had to do was decide which auction on which to bid.

Hi Betty! I got the book today and, yep, that was exactly the one I was looking for. It even had another pattern in there that I would love to do again but didn't remember I had gotten it from the same book! Thanks for the help!!
