Activator and CA glue

Using CA glue as a finish and when activator applied I end up with white spots. I sanded down the pen blank again and applied CA glue without the activator, and had no problem. Could I have been spraying too close to the wood, or maybe air too cool? Open to any ideas.

Thks Dan

This is quite common with activator. I have not been able to avoid it completely. Have you tried spraying with activator first and then applying the glue?

why are you using activator at all? just be patient and let the glue harden

Anytime I see "MISMATCH!" in a path I know the sender should be ignored.

Hmmm - that's a good idea - I feel a new rule coming up.

I've never used activator with a pen.. The heat from applying it with the lathe spinning should cure it..

I use a lot of CA and some activator.. The aerosol works fine but I never could use the pump kind without getting white areas..

It turns white when it converts early or fast. A light mist or a breath will start it. Moisture in the room is enough.

I've seen water mist and oil mist.
