Finishing Yellow Cedar

I've made a rather nice bowl (for me) from a yellow cedar burl and, unfinished, it is a lovely lite, lite yellow in colour, and I'd like to keep it that way. I frequently finish bowls with a blo/thinner mix and I know that turns the y. cedar quite yellow; not unpleasant, but not what I want this time. I don't want a lacquer, urathane or similar finish. Just something that will protect the piece a bit, without much of a shine, and preserve the colour.

Thanks for any suggestions on how to accomplish this!

I think some of the better furniture paste waxes would be great. One of the guys in the club uses Johnson's paste or Bison paste on raw wood, and nothing else.

Along that line, we have another gent that uses clear shoe polish. I like the paste waxes best, and they are really easy to use.
