There are two stores in Seattle that can serve you, Rockler and Woodcraft for the big stores that carry a goo selection of lathe tools

For just good "stuff"

I would look at HardwIcks Hardware

Comptons Lumber and Hardware

and (of course) McLendon's Hardware of half-a-dozen locations

But your best stop might be in Bellingham, Grizzly Tools

You know in all the time I've spent in the Parksville, Nanamio area I can't recall ever seeing someplace that carried "stuff", well other then Canadian Tire

There is also a Harbor Freight if you need some cheap tools (not directly for lathes).

Northwest Fine Working if you're interested in finished turnings instead of tools/wood.

But you do know about the turning shop in Comox, right? And the tool house in Esquimalt right near the brewpub/B&B?

Nope, thanks. I usually drive by Esquimalt in a rush, to get to work, or to the ferry. Comox would require some free-time, but.... a consideration.

..

No, I usually don't get into that part of town, since I usually come up from Victoria and sometimes the Duke-Point ferry. But it sounds like I have some side trips the next time I have free time

nope, do tell?

And the tool

thats tools n space.

IIRC their price for a regular nova chuck is over 200$ for just standard jaws+chuck. and I'm reasonably sure I can find a better chuck for less.

its right on the #6 bus route, or pretty close, called Tools N space. you can rent shop time, good tools, good advice but bit on the high side for prices IMO . a long and strong Hamlet gouge of the 1/2" variety cost over 100$.

last time we were there we got a lifetime supply of lexan for all manner of projects quite cheap too. huge roll of it, used for piggy banks and recipe holders and the like.

It's Island Woodturning Supplies, just off the Main drag on Anderton(?) Rd. Doug Black is the owner.
