What is the size of the spindle threads?

You should know that 1" x 8TPI is the most common. You won't have any problem finding accessories for it if it does. There's nothing more frustrating than getting a lathe that has an odd ball size tpi. (1" x 12tpi comes to mind) It sort of leads you to a dead end.

Ted's right. Watch those thread sizes.

If you are looking at his lathe and its relatives, stop.

It is as low on the Chinese totum pole of quality as you can get. When the cheap castings break, how would you get it serviced? It will cost more to ship than the lathe is worth. Besides, knowing the quality of these lathes, I have no doubt that a

1/2 motor from them (which is too small for a lathe that size anyway) would be much to underpowered to do any good.

You've had some good suggestions here on your other threads, and I think you would probaby be better off looking into them.

Please post the link for the lathe. There are several other factors to consider, such as spindle thread size.

My first impression is that 1/2 hp is about 1/2 what a 14" lathe needs?

take your time... go look at a few in stores, etc....
