Curious about the picture. I see the lathe mizer thing. The bright orange and black thing. But is the light orange and gasoline motor thing on the trailer the Wood mizer slabbing machine that cuts logs into boards? And bo th just happen to be shown in the picture. Not sure how you would use it a s a lathe since there is no toolrest. It might be an OK tool for making fe nce posts.

not knowing anything about have to guess that there are attachments

but would not be too hard to create a toolrest

YouTube has a few videos of the Lathe Mizer (LM) in operation. The LM is attached between the ways of the Wood Mizer (WM), a horizontal band saw. A log is mounted on the LM, the motor turns the log relatively slowly while the WM chews its way down the log, parallel to the axis. The result is a turned pole or log, as used mostly in log homes. Sort of a limited use case.

yes not really a good idea using a bandsaw for that

so i guess this unit is only useful if you have the woodmizer

the motor on the lathemizer looks small to me
