Nova cast iron legs

I just took delivery on a set of Teknatool's legs for the Nova 3000/DVR.

THey have been discontinued, and neither Woodcraft nor KMS tools had any, but I tracked down a dealer in West Virginia who still has a couple of sets. If you're looking for these, give him a call:

A question...

What is the price of the legs. And, is there a market for a really first-class stand (US made) for the Nova products? I think that a good stand can make the difference between a lathe which is not fun to use and one which is. Is there a market out there for me to build a really good stand? What would people be willing to pay?

The legs are $265, plus shipping. I'm in southern AZ, and the shipping was $124 (would have been $74 to a commercial address, or the company's own landing dock).

Apparently the manufacturing cost for the legs went up to US $400, which, according to KMS tools, "killed the market". That's why they were discontinued.

I have a hunch that the shipping is the bugaboo on why the legs are being cancelled. They are probably over the weight for UPS and involve shipping by freight carriers and more logistics since they are not as familiar with all addresses. So in some cases shipping could match the cost of the legs. If bought with the lathe and shipped together, the costs might be acceptable.

Mine cost about a hundred dollars to be shipped, and I'm pretty far away from West Virginia. If the carrier had a local dock, it would have been $70.

What I heard from KMS Tools is that cast iron in general has gotten more expensive, and the cancellation of the Nova legs was due to that price increase.
