OT: Shake, rattle and roll here in Eureka

Happened to be in shop when earthquake hit.. Dodged a few boards flying off the the lumber racks.. Then power went out.. Now finally back on.. and I was just thinking at the time how lucky I was not being in all that cold weather.. -Jim

Hey there Jim - 6.4 so far - been there had it done to me!

Lived near Loma Preata (Soquel / Santa Cruz) - a.k.a. San Francisco Earthquake.

The house I lived in while I went to school at CSU Hayward was split in half, right down the hall, by the Loma Prieta quake, and now it's gone. Funny thing is that the house was almost on top of the Hayward Fault trace, but it was a San Andreas quake that did it in.

Lots of people were killed and houses smashed in Santa Cruz county that hardly made the news. Sadly the section near San Francisco took a whip lash effect and pancaked the freeway and crushed homes.
