Most of the local guys of trim, prune, or remove trees bump there stuff either on a piece of property they own or in a local landfill. I've been able to drive into the landfill and load my truck up with some nice peices of wood. The owner doesn't mind as long as I'm not scavaging for other goodies. Another trimmer allows me to go out on his land and scavage through the piles of wood he's cut from various places. If there is something odd or uncommon, he gives me a call. As Mac said, a gift or two really helps here. He's even sold bowls for me by telling the customer that he could have there tree turned into a nice keepsake if they so desired. Sold 5 or 6 bowls this way. Since you can get more than 1 bowl from most sticks of wood, I always sold one to his customer, gave one to him, and had 2 or three that I could sell on my own.

Could have sworn that page had no address. Oops. I guess the lease signs were for excess space. Good to know they're still up and running. I don't have one of their machines, but have some emotional attachment anyway.
