Looks to be a Newfie.

End sealing a log is valid in the first day or two in the summer, not necessary in winter. If it's a domestic log, and many more grow thereabout, don't bother. Leave the bark on, and nip the ends if required.

You can get similar results by pulling the everyday trash bag up over the end.

Both Lee Valley and KMS tools have endsealer. Lee Valley product seems to be Anchorseal, the KMS product seems to be something else. Both work just fine. Debbie

Well, maybe I am a bit old fassioned....

The way Dad showed me years ago works well and does not require fancy expensive products and, I believe, seals better. Go to the grocery store and in the baking/caning section buy some parafin. Comes in a 1 pound box and has either 4 sticks about 1.5"x1.5"x5" or 4 plates about 3/4"x3"x4". Prop the log on end to get the surface to be sealed rather flat, and with a propane torch in one hand and the stick/plate of parafin in the other hand, pre heat the log end a bit and melt on the wax by pointing the torch at the wax and letting it drip onto the log end. Smooth out the wax with quick swipes with the torch. Repeat until you have a continuous coating, flip the the log and do it again. Works great for me.

has a pretty simple website and it does not show any log sealerbut I know they have sold it in the past because I bought some from them.Other people to try would be Jacques Coulombe or Steven Zwerling or KMS.http://www.jacquescoulombe.com/andhttp://www.zwerling.ns.ca/Steven has the sealer listed on his site but you have to search for it.andhttp://www.kmstools.com/ Or you could just use up some old paint. I have successfully used bothlatex and alkyd paints on fresh cut logs. You don't say where you are located so these companies should pretty wellcover most of Canada. I am other turners in your neighbourhood couldsuggest a local source.Edward ">
