Can anyone tell me the requirements for a suitable basket making material? I understand willow is very common but can I use the twigs from other trees as well? What about holly? Dog wood? Is pussy willow also acceptable?
Any material you can bend/ wrap/ braid/ weave are suitable for basket making. Some tree barks are wonderful as well, some as is and some like Eucaliptus, after some soaking . You can also use torn rags, etc... Best of luck mirjam ps find some good books about basketry
