True, needles are needles. Okay, some people find the differences in smoothness are worth the money to buy, for instance, Addis, others prefer different textures, etc, but as far as I know even Addis don't cost that much.

OTOH, what the heck. Some people like to have matching furniture, other people don't care as long as it doesn't fall apart while they're sitting on it. If someone can afford fancy needles and finds joy in them, it's no skin off my nose and it helps pay the craftsman's bills. The amount of wood involved is pretty small, could even be scraps.

After all, we _could_ all knit plain brown wool stockinette all the time, but I believe most of us enjoy variations.

I once saw an eBay listing for sterling silver knitting needles. I think I'd be afraid to use them, for fear of losing one.

Els, I could have not said it better. Most of my straight needles have been purchased at the local thrift store for 25 cents to a dollar a pair. I go into the Salvation Army store once or twice a month to check for yarn and stuff

Sterling silver needles?!? They would be way too heavy to use, or in small sizes, way too likely to bend. Silver (though not Sterling, but fine (.999) silver) is good to knit, but not to knit WITH:

True, Tamar, and with these fancy wooden knitting needles I would worry that they would break when you are carry them around in your bag. I have broken bamboo needles that way. But if that is your fancy go for it. I still believe that a dyed in the wool knitter...LOL, has no use for them. There are old antiek stirling knitting needles around, but that is a different kettle of fish, I would think those are for a collection of museum. I have stirling two hundred year old needle protectors. Those are now a necklace. Not for practical use. Maybe those fancy knitting needles should be used for special occations, like knitting in the church or in the Sunday used room only....LOL or by the little girl who spun straw in to gold....LOL

Georgia, That is a great idea, I had a little booklet in my hands recently on knitting with wire, I have to try that.

Well, since you asked. . . . A friend of mine is rather flat-chested, and she went to a swanky lingerie shop in Montreal, and bought this bra that comes with its own bosoms. It cost just over $200.00 and makes her look voluptuous, she thinks. Then she left it on the subway! So her mother bought her another one. Frankly, I don't think it was worth it, as she really doesn't look much different.

No kidding. It's a telling that in the photographs they have the needles stuck in a huge ol' skein of acrylic. In fact, that pale green is on my shelf at the moment, awaiting the time it'll become a bathroom rug. I got it at Wal-Mart on sale over a year ago.

I'm good with my $8 bamboo needles and $5.00 bamboo hooks and building my stash of $8-$20/skein yarn, instead. I only hold the tool for a little while. I wear the item much longer and want *IT* to be the top-quality acquisition.

Someone else saw what I saw when I went to the site. That is the main reason I ask about the needles. Did you notice the 99 cent plactic basket?

I think Victoria's Secret had one encrusted with gems for WAY more than $200 a couple of years ago. (Didn't look very comfortable to me...)

Coming from someone who works in a Lingerie Department....I often wonder what happens when these gals who appear to be busty take their clothes off for the first time in front of their boyfriend or husband. What a surprise eh? :)

Wasn't it called The Million Dollar Bra? I think the gems were diamonds. I doubt that they sold very many...

I was curious about the GB location but that info is not to be found anywhere on the website. Nor is there any mention of a return policy. In any case, I think it is obscene to spend that amount of money on knitting needles.
