DD and I just returned to Gainesville from the 2nd annual Florida Fiber-In, in Orlando. We had a lot of fun. It is a small event, but the demonstrations and the exhibits were great. I hope it has a chance to grow each year and hope that some of you in the area can also make it. I will post more info before the one next year is held. Today we had lessons, at least the ones Susie and I attended, for making a felted entrelac hot pad and doing Japanese Short Rows. We did not get there until lunch time so we missed several things.
My congratulations to the founders and supporters of this event. I think it would be great if all areas were able to support such things. They had vendors from all over with all sorts of fiber related items. My all time favorite was a rocking chair made from a spinning wheel - it was so gorgeous, so very gorgeous. Lots of the items on sale were far cheaper than I could see them at my LYS or even online. The Sari silk was going for $16.50 a skein and we pay $25 here at the LYS. To me, that is a bargain.
And, this is another reason for my squares to be late getting done.
