Mirjam and all who are still brave enought ot be on this group I wish you all a very happy Sunday. I came on to this group today mainly to see if all the nasties had gone but I was unable to download any of the messages until I got to your Mirjam - so I do not know what is happening. However I did not want to abandon the group that has been so good to me before at least putting a post that *did* come from me. Just remember I love you all but after what happened I feel my neme is dirt God Bless Gwen

It's drizzling here in scenic Ulricehamn, but I've already been out on my bike (I work on weekends delivering advertising circulars). Once I am finished with that task, I can sit down with my embroidery and finish a work for our "Konstrunda" artists event. That is on Thur, Fri and Sat. so I must be ready soon! :-)

Good Sunday morning to those left in the group and the others I hope are at least lurking if not posting,

Dealing with a puzzling car problem the past couple days. The battery acted like it was dead, jumped the car, and it started and ran fine, and the next morning, the battery acted like it was dead again! So pulled it out, took it down, and it tested out fine. Changed battery cable, because we thought it might be that as the old one had some grundge on it. Nope, still having intermittent problems.

As far as crafting goes, I'm done with the ankle and foot of the second crocheted sock. It will be a frat twin of the first one I made, as I'm slightly redesigning the whole thing for a better custom fit to my feet. So far so good, but with the car problem, I have not been able to finish it this week. I have to tweak the heel, because having only paired decreases makes it a bit tight with the additional strand of Woolly Nylon worked with it, but the toe (made exactly the same as the heel on the first sock with paired decreases) will remain like it is. I just need to have time to get the heel tweaked, and then I can weave in the ends and hopefully get a picture posted on my site of my first pair of custom made crocheted socks. I have plenty of Woolly Nylon left, so I can make more pairs of socks. I have in mind to knit a pair next, but decisions have to be made as to HOW it will be knit, round on DPNs or flat on 2 NDLS, afterthought or short row heel, how thick a wool, etc. I like the idea of being able to completely change the heel and toe sections of my socks like I can on my crocheted pair, so I may do knit socks the same way. Time will tell.

Has anyone ever combined wool and cotton in socks? I have some great locally grown and spun cotton yarn, and I'd like to make socks from that for the summer (next summer at the rate I'm going now!), but I worry that the top won't be elastic enough to stay up, so I was wondering if anyone had made wool ribbing and a cotton sock body? I figured it would be cool enough because the wool would only be around the ankle, but maybe not. I also have heard of running with a strand of elastic in cotton ribbing, but that can wear out. Anyone have any suggestions for knitting 100% cotton socks?

Hi all of you, late yesterday I was back from a wonderful week in Barcelona, lots to see, learn and taste, and warm and sunny days. Today I have had a visit from a school friend from my younger days. I hadn't seen her in ten-fifteen years!! We had lots to talk about, and of couse we didn't reach all, so we'll try to arrange to see eachother this summer. She lives north part of the country, I here at the west coast, but we grew up at the eastern part, near Oslo. There our other friends lives, so we may try to gather a few there. Tomorrow is work, I have things to get ready. It's strange, one week of very nice holydays makes you tired and sleepy! LOL! So I THINK I will try to get a LITTTLE sleep! AUD ;-)

How wonderful:)) Last year I searched on the internet and found a girl I had grown up with (next door to me). I hadn't seen her for 40 years!!!! We are in contact now and it is so strange that when we meet it is as though we have never been apart:)) Neither of us had any brothers or sisters and we are the nearest thing to sisters to each other now:)

The internet is so wonderful:))

Good morning to all! I don't usually write on Sunday but I wanted to make a point of it this time!

Has anybody used Euroflax Linen? Is it just me, or is this very difficult to work with? Doesn't have any give at all. I'm anticipating sore hands...

How nice, Ophelia! I have a similar story, and will be spending some time with my friend this summer. Last year was the first time we had gotten together since we were about 13.

Gwen,

we all know you far too well to ever be affected by what these people write. It makes me want to post more, now! I'm not seeing any more nasty posts, maybe my ISP is filtering them out, somehow - or maybe they've stopped

I've just finished 2 baby surprise jackets but they're more of a surprise than I expected as the neckline is way too small, it is either my sewing up that is wrong, or perhaps I'm casting off too tightly. I'll undo the cast offs and try again.

This is a holiday weekend here so we have tomorrow off as well. It's gardening weather so I've been out planting - two new shrubs, perennials, herbs and annuals. My annual of the year is wax (bedding) begonias. We also painted our 6ft fence.

Yesterday I found a wonderful wooden table that I can use (with a cutting mat) as a cutting and general purpose table in my sewing room. The leaves drop and the table is then about a foot wide and can easily be stored away. This morning I cleaned it and my two small looms.

This afternoon I plan on sitting down with my feet up and a project in hand.

Have a great day everyone!

Welcome back, Aud. When you are rested, I'd like to hear more about your trip.

It's almost Sunday evening here so I will wish everyone good evening or good Monday depending on where you are and when you see this. I've had a fun weekend. Yesterday, I went to Minneapolis for opening day of their brand-new library. It's very impressive but hard to appreciate with the swarms of people. This afternoon, I went to a chamber music concert by several musicians of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. They are the best!. And I managed to get a little knitting done on the sweater I'm making from Hempathy yarn.
