Yes, we are having our share as well. After last summer's drought, it is more than welcome!

Today I am having a sewing day with some of the children who live in my apartment complex. I've made armbands/wristwarmers from cutting out acrylic felt and sewing velcro fasteners to the ends. We will decorate them with beads and embroidery floss. I HOPE this goes well! Sometimes things get a little out of hand when children are involved! :-)

Anyway, some of them have asked me over and over again when we were going to get together and sew again so now I won't have to feel guilty for putting them off. I've meant to do this for a while but have had too many other commitments. It's nice to have a "just for fun" thing to do!

We've had a bit of rain this month as well. We're still woefully dry, but my area at least is greening up. Just what I look forward to every year: Christmas Eve I mow the grass in shorts and a t-shirt, Christmas morning I have to ventilate the house while I'm making breakfast for anywhere from 3 to 40 people.

Today is drizzly and humid (yay!) and just warm enough that having the house open combined with the humidity makes for nasty knitting and even nastier spinning. Doing laundry is pretty futile too, as the dryer has to work overtime to get stuff to the "barely damp" stage at which I hang shirts and pants - where they'll start mildewing on a day like today.

So I'm casting about for something to do...

It's a brilliant sunny cool day here in Maryland and I ache in every part of me. I weeded for hours yesterday, knitted for an hour while we entertained friends in the evening, and just spread out 100 square feet of nugget mulch. It's so gorgeous out but I'm not sure how much more yard work (or any other kind of work!) I'm good for today.

Good morning Mirjam, well,,,, it's afternoon now (smile).

The weather has finally improved. The gale force winds have stopped and there's a gentle breeze now. It's autumn for sure here in Manitoba. Most of the leaves are gone from the trees, but at least it's fairly warm today

9°C. Even though it's cloudy, it's a great day for working outside.

I've been out in the garden planting a bunch of little bulbs DH turned up while tilling, burning off dried weeds, and will now get busy and try to fix the lights on my Christmas deer. They are those stupid little white lights that when one burns out, the whole string goes out. I'm thinking of removing those light strings and replacing them with the LED lights. Our power company is offering $5 off coupons for the LED lights for every string of the old style regular lights (up to 3 strings) you turn in.

I have started the Candle Flame shawl for my DSister for Christmas, and have frogged part of it already. I think I have it okay now, and am hoping it will fly right along. Laceweight yarn - it's Alpaca Cloud from Knit Picks, and it's going to be beautiful.

Have a great day everyone! Shelagh
