Hello everyone,
I have bought three great knitting magazines this month. First I found Family Circle's "Easy Knitting" at my supermarket check out. It has several great kids sweaters in it and one with a dinosaur knitted in with the arm carrying the riangular points of the back of the dino, on the center of the arm. There are several great crocheting squares featured for our 6x6 exchange. It also has a top knitted from arm to arm sideways across the front. The next magazine is a first for me, maybe some of you know this publication already, "Creative Knitting". Here I found for knitting with my favorite butterfly yarn, a smocked little jumper for my grand daughter. It is a recktangle with little I cord straps and smocking at the top. I have done lots of regular smocking but this will be the first time for knitted smocking (I do think that someone asked about the possibility of doing that in knitting, well hereit is) It looks great. My best find this month is in "In Knitters". I do love this magazine, because they are the best in explaining details and showing small samples etc. This month they have knitting with beads, lots of talk about that in this group, as well as an in depth article about pilling and what to do and not to do to avoid the pilling of your fibers. Double knitting is also featured, so for all of you who wanted to know about that, get this Spring issue. I have played with that for a while now. So far I have made very simple samples of double knitting, some of you got to see those as 6x6 squares in our exchange. Here they show very wonderful complex ideas, all very creative and lovely. Now to find the time to do it all.
I have finished the front part of the smocked little dress. It was the most simple to do on my knitting machine. I am knitting the ribs for the smocking by hand, but while I was doing that, I realized that I could have done that on the machine as well. Just drop the stitches that need to be purled and pick them up on the other side and with your latch tool knit them back up. Learning as I go along as usual....LOL
