I know something now!

I know that having an injection of DepoMedrol directly into one's wrist hurts like a sunnuvabitch!!

I also know that 6 hours after the injection my wrist hurts more than it ever has except during hte month or so right after the accident and my range-of-motion is even more limited now than before.

I know that I'm on the surgery calender for the last week in January, at which time I'll have the wrist, the elbow and my thumb fixed. And I didn't even know I had a thumb problem :P

I know that I'm not getting much knitting done.

Whine over, on to your regularly scheduled programming.

Geeez Wooly, you sure have my sympathy! I have to get those liquid gold cortisone shots underneath my kneecaps - In fact I've had 3 of them in the last 2 months, along with a couple of Syn-Visc injections that I had a reaction to...... Have you tried an ice pack? I always have to come home and elevate my legs and use ice for a couple of days. I usually have quite a bit of pain and swelling for a few days, then it clears up and I feel a lot better for about 6 months. Hope you feel better soon. Let us know how you're doing. Ow, makes me hurt to think about it! I'm normally pretty stoic about personal discomfort, but I'm discovering that my stoicism applies mostly to being ill and marshalling on despite it. The pre-"Improvement" wrist was bothersome, but until recently fell into the category of "bothersome, but not overly so".

That depo injection just killed me, though. I still can't bend it this morning and it still hurts like hell. I guess if it is still this way on Monday or Tuesday I'll be calling the doc back and asking some questions.

I iced it as soon as I got home yesterday, then put the heating pad on it last night, and I'll ice it again today after I get breakfast on the table and cleaned up.

I did get a bit of knitting done last night, just a few rounds of plain stockinette on a sock that's been languishing. Enough of a fix that I'm not jonesing, but the work is piling up in my head...

When my mom had an injection of cortisone in her knee, she complained of pain worse than she had ever had in her knee. It took about 2 days for it to subside and then she was feeling fine. But of course, we all know that it doen't last. The problem must be corrected for the pain to fully go away.

So hopefully for you, your wrist will feel better after this weekend. Glad you have your op scheduled.

Take care, Diane

Oooh, I'm sorry to hear about your poor wrist. I am glad though, that they finally scheduled surgery for you.
