Me, too, Lee, but my DD wants one, and it is on needles as we speak. No, it is NOT Martha's!

I just tried to go to Lion Brand site to get a URL for their man's poncho, just for fun, and guess what! The site is down! I think their Martha success has crashed them. (And I'm sure it's temporary.) But it does remind us, be careful what you pray for!

One wonders if the first one to get it out is a company whose pattern the thing was based on.

LOL! I guess if we're old enough to remember the last go-round we're exempt from wearing them again -- sort of like the case with mini-skirts! Not that I might not make a triangle shawl that buttons down the front. I kind of like that concept and it's easy to take on and off without messing up your hear or knocking your hat off.

OK That is what happens when you use letters instead of whole words, DD being dear daughter....LOL even so she would like a warm one, I am sure of that with all the snow you are having most of the time..

The main colour is a rust, with a beige trim. Looks lovely, I think. Hope Vanessa likes it, too.

Well Elsje it depends ,,,,, Years ago my mother owned a shop , she decided not to sell children`s clothes anymore. I just had my eldest , haven`t regained my [than Macaroni] figure, and ... well you know. Thus i recieved from her , 2 Teen Age size Scotish skirts. In those times i stillliked pants , thus one skirt i cut into pants , abd from the other i made a matching Poncho, The kind that you sew together 2 rectangles , short side to corner of long side of the other rectangle ,,,, This of course left my neck cold ,,,,, thus here my creative mind solved it by making a blanket stich around the neck, on which i knitted a Dicky ,,,,Than i took some left over triangles and made a matching hat by crocheting between them .....was great , Ps 2 weeks ago i met the woman , to whom i gave this poncho , it still looks great. Over the years i knitted some crocheted some Sewed some. Israel is nor a real cold country , there are many mild days , when a poncho or shawl is enough. Also the houses aren`t builtr for winter , thus we use it while watching tv ,, but i like shawls more .... Ps i wove a beautiful poncho for my stepmother ,, mirjam

oh, no, *i* have a boy. my son is 4 (& i'm 50...). yes, we have plenty of snow right now. just added 20" yesterday. i love snow, but i'm ready for making maple syrup & this is delaying the season a bit! :) it looks like it'll be warming up enough to tap this week, but i'll need my snowshoes. i just love sugar season :) lee

And the Saga continues. The Washington Post this morning had a half page on a local knit shop being inundated by people wanting poncho patterns. Thing is, my LYS has had a steady flow of poncho knitters since last summer. It's a natural next step for the folks who got hooked on scarves. One pattern even has them knit about 8 scarves and put them together into a poncho. I think that was in this Winter's Knitter's magazine. Yep, here's the picture:

If anything, Martha is giving a boost to a trend that was well under way,if not already waning. But, no I have not yet made myself a poncho and probably won't. I prefer ruanas(continental wraps), cocoons or knitted jackets. Shawls don't stay on for me, but then I haven't tried them with shawl pins yet. Guess I should fish around in my cedar chest and try some of my old shawls that way. Or maybe even add buttons to some of them as I've seen done on some triangle shawls
