OT and not so OT - Dental issue & knitting

Hi! Here I sit now. My right side cheek is swollen and I am in quite much pain yet. You may guess...The Operation Wisdom Tooth, oh yes. And part II. I went to the upstairs of the local health center when the time was right. I had to wait for some time, but then the surgeon himself called me. I stood up and left. We shaked hands and went in. Soon I was in his chair.

"I kill your sense of pain now. Here comes the first shot" he told me. And soon I felt something inside of my mouth. "First one in" he told me. And indeed, soon enough I felt my right cheek began to swollen.

"It is getting swollen already" I told JK meaning my cheek. But he was not worried at all. I was not worried either, I knew this would happen.

"All right, now I put the second one" he told me. And yes, he put another shot to my lower jaw. "It is in" he told me. And indeed, I felt something funny in my face. But the pressure sense was there. Of course I was a bit worried. Then a bit more waiting, one more shot and...operations began.

"Which side first? Front or back?" I asked as well as I could. "Front first" JK told me. "Aww...I feel something" I told him. "Do not worry, this won't hurt" he promised me. He twisted and turned and..."It is out" he told me. And indeed, I felt how one of my lower angle teeth left. I can not tell the exact location, but it was near it.

"Now to that wisdom tooth" JK told me next. And indeed he did something...and yet more something. "All right, now it is time to stitch the wound" he told me. I was relieved. I knew I'd make it through. He stitched it well and wrote me 2½ days off sick. Then we shaked hands once more and I left. I hurried to Dad's room and gave him the paper JK had given me. Then I hurried to the elevator. "I must get home soon, I must get home soon" I panicked. Why? Because usually the pain killer stuff JK used and all the dentists use...it makes me dizzy. But this time I did not get dizzy or sleepy. I tried to get sleep come to me but it did not before the pain killer stuff began to wear off. "Aw man, I just can not live with this!" I thought, when the time was almost 4 PM. "I will break the rules, but I must get one pill Ketorin...it makes this pain go away". And indeed, after that one pill the sleep came to me and I got some rest. I was relieved. And when I woke up, the Ketorin had kicked in and I was almost painless.

Now to the knitting part. I have a cardigan on needles. It is meant to someone...I do not know the owner-to-be's name, but I hope it will be a girl. The cardi has so girly colors. 2 different shades of red. Aw man...I think it is pretty, even I should not say that. Best: Pirjo

Hi Pirjo well the dental work is over for now, so you will soon feel much better, and in a few days time it will be like nothing ever happened to you. So that is good. But there is nothing worse than toothe ache. Your cheeks will be a bit swollen for a while but that'll go soon.

cool warm drinks whilst it is still sensitive and some mouth washes to clean it all with...after meals and so on.

Sounds like you are going to be using you time on the sick well, by knitting.. good for you.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Pirjo,

Hope you feel better soon. It is terrible to get those wisdom teeth out. Drink lots of soup and soft foods. Milkshake are good too!

My DS just had it done last week, all 4 at once. He was put to sleep for 1 hour. He is finally eating solids again.

Hi! Diane: Aw man! I can hardly imagine. When my upper ones removed, they were visible in my mouth. So they were easier and Dad took care of them. But these lower ones...they had to be removed by surgeon. They existed but were not visible...so that is why the surgery was needed.

Must take some Ketorin again...when it kicks in I can sleep...and V-Pen aka antibiotics are there to prevent the inflammation or something like that. Nasty thing anyway...this pain is rather unpleasant thing. But knitting helps. But I could not survive without Ketorin, I admit it here and now. Best: Pirjo

Hi! Yes, that is how it is...liquid food is needed now. Sometimes opening my mouth is a bit hard, because it hurts. But when I take Ketorin, it makes me feel better. And that mouth wash...Corsodyl, argh what a mess! The nastiest liquid I have ever tasted I swear you that. If I would not make it a bit weaker with water, I just could not stand it...it is so strong. And I am not the friend of strong things...if the taste is strong. I know this is terribly written but such is life. Best: Pirjo

no Matter, know what you mean Pirjo, and yes the mouth wash stuff is sometimes horrible to the taste, but it does it's job and cleans up everything, keeping your gum healthy and that is the main thing...don't want an infection in there now do we? hugz Cher

Hi Cher! Of course. I'd hate the infection thing....At the moment pain is gone thanks to Ketorin...but it comes back if I leave it untaken. Best: Pirjo

Hi Cher! Yes, Corsodyl is terrible...Now I mix it with water...but even through the water the taste is there...even if it is not that strong so I can wash my mouth. And my mouth is still bleeding...I think the wounds are at least partly open...but I know they will get closed. Once my V-Pen period is over, I will take a brush and brush my mouth all around...and hard! Last time I was bleeding a lake when my V-Pen period was over and I was allowed to brush the operated side too. Best: Pirjo

Oh Gosh....go careful Pirjo, don't brush something that isn't healed properly yet...and don't water down that stuff, or it won't be affective against germs etc...

You've had stitches so it'll take a bit longer to heal up I'm sorry to say, but don't be too harsh with it, this is like an injury and has to be treated gently, of course brush the teeth that aren't affected but go really careful not to get the bristles of the brush near the wound you have at the moment or will never heal up and you'll end up with an awful gum problem...

Hi! I just woke from a nap...You just wait there when I take my Cetirizin...then I sleep 12 hours straight through...no hope of living signs except my breathing. :) LOL...I know I should not say like this but I do anyway. And yes, I get tired because of Ketorin...but in the evening it is a good thing. Best: Pirjo

Hi! Thanks for worrying...I have eaten only ½ pill of V-Pen during one day and the swollening is almost gone. I say almost because it is there all right but it is going down - fast. I am amazed. Last time it lasted much longer to heal. And no, I won't touch that area with my brush...yet. But...there is one certain sickness I can have if I do not brush. I know it...and the only symptoms of it are the pain and bleeding. And I swear that bleeding is bright red, not any pale red. At least that is how it was last time. Best: Pirjo

LOL his/her huh? Can't make up his/her mind, or you haven't met him/her in person yet?

Ewww, on the toenail thing! LOL Apparently I had one older (distant, I'm happy to say) cousin who actually used to bite her toenails. To me that is just icky... your feet sweat inside socks and shoes... who wants to put them in your mouth, or near your nose?

*hugs* Gemini
