OT, but sorta not so much

Here's the rub: I've got sciatica. Yes, I'm doing all the 'right things', excercising, walking, taking ibuprofin, etc... however, I cannot stand or walk ALL day, so must sit... anyone know of a way to sit that won't cause me to seize up so badly?? Was at the Library this AM and stood and knitted on socks for half an hour, but that's not exactly fun for me... Hugs, Noreen

Nothing but sympathy here. I've had it off and on since #1 was born and sometimes it gets so bad, nothing helps. I did go to a chiropractor once and actually got some relieve.

Everyone's different, but maybe a rocking chair would help. At least it would shift where the pressure is and allow some leg exercise at the same time.

I bought Keith a heated, vibrating chair. That seems to help. Hope you find some relief.

comfortable recliner with a set of knitting needles nearby?

Any ol' chair won't do. It takes a good one.

I'm gonna tell you something really weird here, I've suffered with this, and you just don't know what to do with yourself do you... I say it is like toothache all down to your feet....I'd tried heat which didn't work and isn't good for it, so I've tried cold, still nothing doing, then one day I said I felt like I needed to stretch the offending leg to pull it out or down from the hip and back, so I went into the garden and got a spade and dug a small bit of garden, using the offending leg on the spade......and pushing the spade in really deeply....

and for some reason it worked like a stretching contraption, and 'touch wood' 'fingers crossed' I've not had it return since and that was 1999 so whether that did it, or whether it just decided to go or what I dont' know, but I appear to have got shot of it, at least since then. when I used to get it every year around this time.

Softness alone doesn't seem to be what she's asking about. Moving seems to be what helps. So a chair that lets you move a little, like a rocking chair, might be best.
