OT: New Years traditions and sayings...

I've friends in northern michigan who feed LOX to the family on New Years Day. WE, on the other hand, never had a tradtional new years meal, we usually ate new years eve leftovers!

Sayings: my grandmother (from Poland) always said that whatever you are doing ON New Years DAY is what you'll be doing all year. Hence, don't clean or cook do work you don't particularly enjoy.

Heard this AM on the news, the newsgal said, "don't clean house on new years day, you'll sweep out all the profits!"

anyone???? LOL, Noreen

I always heard that whatever you are doing at the stroke of midnight on New Years Eve is what you will be doing the rest of the year. And for good luck the meal of the day was collard greens, black eye peas and hog jowls. Frances

That's probably very true. But at midnight I was resenting my 17-yo DSS for drinking the majority of our wine and then lying about it. Par for the course for him. He's been stealing and lying to us for quite a while now, but he's taking it to new levels when we don't have the money for the water bill, and lightening our liquor. I fully expect him to drop out of school. He doesn't want to change.
