OT: Thanks to Rusty

Hi Rusty,

I just had to tell the group that you sent me the easiest directions for joining squares together, so much easier then my weaving and takes half the time. Thank you so much.

Hugs,

Nora

Katherine, I found this easy way to join granny squares - I made three mosaic afghans in 1980 (two were for my childrens' weddings, the other one was mine) and Sunday I was looking over the directions in a Woman's Day Magazine I had kept for 25 years, and thought how much easier this way would be.

It's meant for joining granny squares, but I think it can be used for any kind. Now most of you probably already know this method, but jic somebody doesn't, here it is :

With right sides facing, work * 2 sc between dc groups (in the space between the groups), ch 2.* Repeat from * around.

That's it, simple as can be !

Nora, thanks for the compliment.

When I made my Mom's afghan for Christmas one year, I didn't want to think about sewing all the squares together, so I crocheted them together... sounds a little like what I did. However, I put the wrong sides together and joined them on the right side, so there are ridges between all the squares. It looks nice though! :o)

Gem, what I've been doing sounds like what you've done. I was doing a sc in each st and it took forever; this way it's 2 sc, ch2, 2 sc, ch 2

- so danged much easier. If I had done the DD's beige afghan this way, it would have been done long ago.
