raglan trouble

i'm currently knitting a sweater that requires me to shape raglans. however i'm having a bit of trouble keeping the constistency of the pattern. i started out with 125 stitches on my needle and when i got to the required length after 16ins of k2 p2 to end k1 then p2 k2 to end p1, i cast off 8sts the beg of the next 2 rows leaving me with 109. i was then instructed to sl1 k1 psso and pat to last 2sts k2tog. the next row i'm supposed to work even in pat. i'm instructed to repeat these last two rows 31 times more. however, every attempt i make to do this results with the pattern of the garment being off with the rest of the 16ins i've already done. can anyone please offer some help? i've tried to work this out almost 20 times and am extremely frustrated. thanks:)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ are you sl1, k1, psso only once? Then follow the pattern of the rows already knitted.
next row...just follow the pattern already knitted without the sl1, k1, psso?
It sounds like you have a simple rib pattern, so instead of trying to figure out which stitch to start a row with, keep in the pattern by knitting the knit sts and purling the purl sts. So if the next stitch looks like a knit you knit it, if it looks like a purl, you purl it.
