Judy, there was a segment on our local news at lunchtime here (Nashville) last week about younger knitters and beading... it really IS so neat to not have the fibre arts die-out!! They're finding it to be fun, too! Hugs, Noreen

I was knitting at my AAUW meeting today and two of the others who have started knitting had brought things to ask about. Fran (another knitter of my age group) and I answered questions before the meeting. The organization already has several interest groups that meet outside the regular meeting and we got a request to start a knitting group. I think we probably will do that and keep it informal so that if someone wants to bring other kinds of related work and help with that, they would be welcome. The person I first encouraged to start has been knitting hats for Afghans for Afghans but is now feeling confidant enough to start on some Christmas presents for her nephews and nieces. (Her hats are well done and of the type my middle son (age 29) likes - so they should go over well with her young adult relatives). I certainly don't feel adequate to teaching anyone much past the beginner stage but feel confidant about encouraging them and letting them know that they can teach themselves lots between online sources and just trial and error. Anyway, nice to see our younger members think that those of us who are in the senior set have some skills worth passing along.

Wow! This is so impressive! I hope that your crafting group gets off the ground in a big way!
