I have some dark purple worsted weight wool yarn that I'd like to make a shawl or scarves out of. I find that many stitch patterns get lost in dark yarns. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Something that stands out like a cable might work. Or for a shawl, some open, lacy pattern?
Wendy
Wendy,
I like the lacy pattern suggestion. I always think of lace being done with light yarn and letting the shadows define the open spaces. But a dark yarn can show the open spaces if worn over a light color (like a white blouse).
I'll try a swatch with a cable pattern, something big and bold. I think something small (like a four-stitch cable) would get lost.
Thanks for the suggestions!
Alan
