Sunday and April almost gone

Hello everyone and a Happy Sunday morning to all - it is afternoon tea time here so I am about to go and get some nice hot coffee - This morning was lovely and fine but it is raining now. I have not done anything exciting - I have scanned a few more photos but that is all

I am now going to make a 6x6 while watching the football and drinking that hot coffee God Bless Gwen

It is not quite Sunday here yet - but will be in about 40 minutes. I won't wait for it to come, though - heading off to bed. I just did a three needle cast off on the shoulder straps of a summer top. I just need to do the neck finishing all around and then only two four stitch wide places to connect under the arms and I am done. It will fit fine

- just slipped it on and I think it will be comfortable. It is made with a cotton /linen mix in a sage green.

good morning Gwen it is Sunday 8.30 here, bit overcast but the birds are singing well..

Another sock on the needles, but it will have to wait today whilst I do other tasks...quick hoover around, roast dinner to prepare, although I'll probably take the sock knitting into the kitchen with me whilst I watch the pots on the stove don't burn...

Have the Westies to walk first, over their fields, etc we do the river bank walk sunday mornings I want to see if the swans have any new additions this year, they should be just about on the water now.

Also I want to get right down to look at the new promise of dye plants growing along the river bed, see how tall they are getting now, in a month or so they will be taller than me, and holding bright yellow flowers which I shall pick and bring home and stew up..bottle ready for this years allum dyeing sessions.. the Cow Parsley is coming on and the white flowers from this will give me some interesting yellows... sort of banana colour.

Well off to get my shower, I tend to be on here way to long in the mornings if I don't call a halt to it..lol

happy Sunday to all.

Cheers.....cher

Good Sunday morning, all!

It looks like we're going to have a beautiful day here in Pennsylvania. I have grocery shopping, vaccuuming, and laundry to do as a first priority, since I worked Monday through Saturday and things are in a bit of a shambles around here.

On the knitting front, I seem to have developed some tendonitis in my elbow (ouch!), so I am trying to be good and not stress it. I have a very simple baby blanket to do, and I'm hoping that gentle gripping of the needles and slow movements will be okay because I really can't give up the knitting altogether, even for a few days.

Good Morning everyone

It's almost 11 o'clock here and I am finally on the computer for a few minutes. I am trying to keep up with all the posts but haven't been replying much because my left hand is that bad.

Today I am hoping to try and get a bit of something done craftwise but not sure right now. Have the carpal tunnel tests done on Thursday of this coming week and then get the results on the 15th so actually looking forward to then.

Take care Darlene in Toronto

Hi everyone it's finally a beautiful spring day here in Central Connecticut - a bit cool and windy, but leaves on the trees and flowers blooming. Unfortunately, I'm not able to be out and about this lovely morning as I am busy 'downsizing' for my move sometime in June. To go from a two story house where I've lived for over 30 years, to a one floor condo with a bedroom and a half is taking lots of determination and the ability to Throw Stuff Out! Hugs, Joan

Happy Sunday to everyone! :o) It is afternoon here now... but I actually slept in today until 10 AM which is *very* unusual for me, I'm normally up about 7-ish.

It's hard to believe this is the last day of April... this month seemed to fly by very quickly! Last week when I was out looking at the rose bushes, etc at the side of the house, I looked at my Mom's lilac bush that we transplanted part of when we moved to this house and it didn't show any signs of life at all. I really thought it was totally dried up and we would end up having to uproot it and throw it away, which saddened me a bit considering that we had to leave the Christmas tree we had bought in memory of my Dad at the old property. However, I was just standing at the window a second ago, soaking in some of the warm rays of the sun... and there in front of me is my Mom's lilac bush... with some little leaves sprouting on it. I don't know if it will have any blossoms this year, but I will go out in a little while to have a closer look. I'm just happy to see signs of life on it afterall. :o)

Off to check the refridgerator to see what is there for supper tonight... in case I need to get anything at the grocery store before it closes.

Have a wonderful day, whatever is left of it wherever you may be.

I wish you the best with your move. My parents did a similar move (also in CT) 2 years ago - 2 stories with a finished basement and lots of bedrooms, to a 2 (small) bedroom apartment. Daddy finally hired a clear-out guy, who put the furniture up for auction and disposed of everything that the parents didn't want.

Ummm.. no "d" in refrigerator. I *knew* that, but was thinking of the word fridge and for some reason there is a "d" added to that word. Does it make sense? No... but what in life does make sense anyway? LOL

Hope your team won, Gem,

It is nearly lunch time here, and it is sunny outside. We are going to bring the fixed spinning wheel back to the little museum. I am now looking for more Historical information about that wheel. The way it was made is very creative and ingeniously done. The group of French Canadians who used this wheel, where living in Pawtucket, and if I am not mistaken that is somewhere in the Eastern seaboard states, in the US. They worked in the mills there. I was wondering if the brought this wheel with them, and if so are there similar wheels still around in that part of the country. It is also possible that the wheel was made once the moved to the prairies. Research work to be done. I am also ready to do some dyeing this afternoon, to see if I can get the chartreuse colour Cher is aiming for in her dyeing adventures. I do love the colours you dyed so far. We always want what is just around to corner, so we will aim for that.

Have a great weekend guys

Cher is the Cow parsley that plant with the big huge leaves, we have one growing on our septic field. I have been told that it will give you skin irritations when you touch it. Are we talking about the same plant. I must say I love this plant it gets very tall, with big finger like leaves and has lovely composite white flowers. The plants can become over 6 feet tall.

Joy a tensor band just above your elbow will help that, It will stop the muscles and tendons that are inflamed from being over worked. I have used it often and it does help a lot

Gem,

I had to laugh at your reply to yourself. You know how people talk about "the first thing to go"? For me it was spelling. LOL

LOL What's really bad is that I often answer myself in real life too! I will say something to Matthew who has his nose in the computer or some PS2 game and doesn't hear me (he gets that from my Mom... she used to do that when she was reading)... so since I'm talking to myself anyway, I answer myself too. And I must say, I get some pretty good answers sometimes! LOL Of course once in a while Matthew will come out of his daze and hear me in the other room... then he comes to the door and looks at me with an eyebrow up and says "Are we having a nice conversation?!?" I tell him it's the best conversation I've had all day because I am at least getting answers, and the answers I'm getting are good ones! He just shakes his head and wanders off.... one day he may decide it's time to send for the people to come with the long sleeved jacket for me. LOL

Good afternoon everyone,

It's a lovely spring day in upstate NY. We have been to brunch and didn't need our jackets, but sure could have used them in the place as they have turned the a/c on already.

Our flowering tree in the middle of the back yard is just beginning to blossom and looks so pretty, also all the rose bushes have a lot of life to them this spring. It must be due to the mild winter we had.

Joan, have fun downsizing, our neighbor did that a year ago after living in the home she was born in 75 years ago. Someday we will probably do it too, so we have started now, but DH gets sidetracked. LOL

Hugs,

Nora

My parents did that a few years ago as well. After all of the hard work and after they were settled into their new place, I think they were relieved to be rid of so much stuff. Now mom is always telling us "No stuff" for gifts :)

What you've got sounds more like Giant Hogweed Els, nasty thing, it's an official pest here. There was some along the river in our village, and it had to be dealt with by the Environmental Control people 'cos if you get the sap on your skin it can burn quite badly. Cow parsley gets to about 3 foot high in this country, and kids use its hollow stems for peashooters, and if they try the same thing with the giant hogweed it can be horrid. I'd suggest getting rid of your plant
