I use lengths of yarn to tie explanatory tags to the Bottles of Hope I make for people undergoing cancer treatments:

Those are very pretty and what a lovely idea. :-)

I like that idea - receiving a parcel is always nice and that decoration would make it very special.

I wind any left over yarn into small balls leaving a long "tail. Using a large sewing needle I then use part of that tail to sew over and over on the different strands until the ball is quite secure and cannot unravel. They make lovely play toys for my little cat and for various friends animals too.

Oh that is a very nice idea !! it sounds /reads a bit like those Japanese thread balls [ forgot their name mm sorry ] .. mirjam

I usually make them into granny squares - you can use very small bits of yarn for that. It makes for some interesting colours!
