Very OT: another spiel as eluded to in previous OT post

My other RANT of the month is the deplorable conditions of the Military Hospitals that our fighting men and women are being sent home to after stabilizing them in Germany after Iraq/Afghanistan injuries. And, on the same note, here in TN, both our VA HOMES for retired Vets are finally REALLY being scrutinized after the news has been reporting on the autrocities there for over two years. It's sickening. Stealing from patients, patients dying from neglect, RAPING patients, abusing patients, etc. Since I'm going to the VA Monday and Thursday next week, I'm going to interview and report on what I find.... Noreen who hates mistreatment.

You know, this one irks me even more than the tornado lack of response. These are people who put their lives on the line for this country, and they're getting treated worse than dirt. The very least this country can do for anyone who serves - and I do mean anyone, even those who only served in support capacity stateside - is to make sure they've got medical care for the rest of their lives, and for those who came home injured, physically or mentally, to make sure they have the best care possible on all levels provided in a timely manner. No one should have to live in Building 18 at Walter Reed. I wouldn't wish those conditions on my worst enemies, but I would wish them on those who allowed it to happen. Gen. Kevin Kiley, this means you.

The other thing that ticks me off is that they fired the guy who has only been in charge at Walter Reed for about 6 months and replaced him with the guy who knew about this for years and did nothing about it, Kevin Kiley. He has to go, as does anyone else who knew about this and didn't speak up.

Then we learn that years ago this part of Walter Reed was privatized to a Halliburton subsidiary. Can you say cronyism???

Grr...

Please do make a note of anything you see that doesn't seem right, and let folks know. Congresscritters, administrators, anyone you can scream at. The more pressure we can put on the PTBs to change these things the better.

The Other Kim spun a FINE 'yarn':

GRRRR is right, and I've been emailing, writing snail letters and even calling Senators, Representatives, both at the Federal and State level. Our nearest bigger newspaper, the Lebanon Democrat has been following this closely, along with Nashville newschannel 5, both the Walter Reed situation and our local VA Homes situation. YES, I agree cronyism!!!!! Notice ever that all the Pres's and Senators go to the NAVAL Hospital (Bathesda) rather than Walter Reed?? Do we wonder why????
