Linda, I bet you are a very precise person. I love the tamari balls as well, and have tried my hand on these. But you do have to be really precise in the measurements, I found. There is a lady in Duncan who teaches making tamari balls, she came to our Guild some years ago, and we made some neat balls. It is amazing the different patterns you can create, as long as you have a nice round ball, and measure very carefully Ahhhh, if just....LOL

I think that thinking up those math based patterns, helped a lot to revitalize the interest of many people back on Knitting , as suddenly they realized One needs brains for knitting and not only fingers , glasses and a rocking chair .... mirjam

Yes, Els, I am a very precise type person...I like everything to be orderly :)

I took a class in making temari about 15 yrs. ago. I made two, and that was the end of temari. Last September my parents moved to a condo, and I ended up with some of my Mom's stash, which included 9 styrofoam balls. It was these balls that got me going with the idea to start making temari again. I'm having a wonderful time with them. They are so doable...i.e. I can make some designs in an evening, and others take a week or more depending on how many evenings I have for stitching. The colour combinations are endles!

I made a collection of 6 temari in shades of ecru, taupe, tan, black, and metallic gold for our living room. Now I'm making a collection for my Mom in dusty pinks, dusty greens, dusty blues, with contrasts of burgundy, dark green, dark blue, and metallic gold. They look wonderful, and very colourful.

take care, Linda :) Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada See pictures of my work at:
