Woolite

Thanks for your guidance. I believe the fabric is a silk crepe. It's a deep red and will probably bleed but I don't think I need to be concerned about that. Before I dunk the whole thing, I will test wash a tail that won't show when I wear it. I've read that sometimes a garment is marked dry clean only because there isn't enough space to put all the detailed instructions for washing it safely. And they know some people will go and ahead and wash without reading instructions anyway.

yes, reds & oranges are notorious bleeders :( however, if the water is cold & you try not to agitate the fabric too much, it shouldn't bleed too badly (what i can't stand is when the red trim on little kids white clothes bleeds! that's just shoddy!). i tend to agree on there not being enough room for proper washing instructions on the labels, but dry cleaning can make a worse mess than hand washing, quite often. i guess then you can blame someone else though. lee

Okay, so I can't understand why I can't see your picture. When I go to your account it says you don't have any photos shared.

I wash even the ` dry clean only silk` with baby shampoo by hand ,, it is so easy , that i do it in 5-8 moments ,,,, than hang to dry in the bath room over sink or bath tub , and iron when still humid. mirjan

Thanks Mirjam. As Lee pointed out, the degree of success can vary with different silks which is why I want to try it first on a inconspicuous part of the blouse.
