Starlia,

OH! That would be awesome! :)

It is always fun to put a face with the person! I flew out to VA to meet a husband/wife couple that I'd gotten to know through beads. What a hoot.

p.s. I just started a bangly set of jewelry out of your bead set I got about a month ago.... very excited.....

Yes, DS is my darling son Michael. If I could figure out how to link, I'd she a pic, but suffice it to say he is a mischievious red-headed cutey-pie. :)

VH1 wouldn't know music if it came up and bit them on the *ss. About the only thing I've ever liked from VH1 were the pop-up videos!

Besides, I never claimed the song was a great piece of musical genius, it is just a great song to crank up on a sunny day and sing your heart out to!

Cool. I need to go visit her soon. My nephews are in their teens and my baby nephew needs to see his auntie. Then I can meet you too!

The lament of every child of any age group whose parent(s) like to sing along to the songs of their generation. (Talking 'bout my generation....) The best music was from the late 60's early 70's! Love-ins, bell-bottoms, levis made into bell bottoms by slitting the side seams and adding paisley patterned material. Ah! wonderful trips down memory lane..... Barbara Dream Master

"House of the Rising Sun" still stirs me to sings complete with facial expressions. I also loved "Canned Heat." Saw them twice in concert when I was stationed at Miramar with Top Gun back in '71. They played the San Diego Sports Arena to a placed house. Lived for "The Bear" to do his drum solo!!! When I got out of the service I went to the Capital Center here in Maryland and saw "Grand Funk Railroad." Got high from the "smoke" drift up from the seats below us. That was Friday night.......didn't get my full hearing back until Tuesday morning. Did anyone ever see Leon Redbone live? I never did. I wish I had.

I did, several times. What a great show! Completely different and lots of fun. What a let down to see him later advertising for detergent of something like that. Jan

I know what you mean! I grew up in the 80's and liked the music, but my favorite artists have always been from my parents' generation. I was a lone teenager going to "classic rock" concerts with my parents, because my friends listened to modern music. I pretty much gave up new music in the late 80's/ early 90's. In fact, when my age group was going crazy for the New Kids on the Block, I was really into the Beatles, Chicago, the Moody Blues and CSN. The other kids thought I was weird, and I thought they were tasteless... I probably should have been born 30 years earlier =)

Well, you know -- selling one song for a commercial use can set you up for life. And the music biz doesn't like you much unless you can bare that belly nowadays. It's harsh. I understand it when they "sell out" like that.

What do we know, anyway? Maybe his wife needs expensive medical care and he sold out for her. Maybe he wants a weekend house (good for him, why not sell a song's rights just once?). Maybe his kids want to go to college. Art is not just high-minded ideals. Sometimes it's what pays the rent. ~~ Sooz

I used to go to concerts at the Shrine auditorium in LA in the late 60s. They had one every Friday night. You could see 3 bands each time. There were no seats, just open floor for dancing or sitting. They had light show projections on the walls. You could walk right up to the stage and put your arms up on it and lean on the stage to watch the bands up close. I remember on Halloween one year they had Albert King, the Mothers of Invention and Creedence Clearwater. The tickets were 4.75 to see all 3 bands. Barbara Dream Master

Tell what? That I slept with Roger Daltrey in 1968 at the start of my groupie days? And went on to nail Larry Taylor (bass player of Canned Heat whom I worshipped and adored) and Jimmy Page?

Naw, don't think I will ;-)
