Oooooh, Vegas!! Sounds like fun! :)
LOL - Not all customers are like this. I do have some of the nicest, most understanding and admiring customers on the planet. But some people really need specific things and have specifics in mind, but don't necessarily communicate that to me at first. What's awesome is that when all the orders are finished, I can just make what I want to and offer it, and there will be people who just want beads by me and will buy the ones I offer because they like the colors I used, etc. And there will be times when I ask for opinions about what colors people will want to see, but there won't be pressure to make certain things by a certain time, etc. I will just make stuff in the suggested color scheme, and if people like it they can buy it. Happiness for everyone, I hope. :) Of course, there might not be as much availability, because I won't be chaining myself to the torch. But when I am happy, my productivity tends to really go up.
vj found this in rec.crafts.beads, from Kathy N-V :
]That kind of gall amazes me. If someone came to me with those conditions for ]a custom order, I'd tell them to shove off. I always thought it was like ]'Pretty Please Kandice, could you make me a set of chartreuse beads? Here's ]the money up front, because it's a custom order." ] ]I figure that you're the artist, and if I had that specific a vision, I'd ]make the damn things myself.
SECONDED. LOUD AND CLEAR! i'm astounded that people would even consider doing that!

Just out of curiousity Sooz, which Marissa/Marisa from the USA do you mean. There is me and Marisa Exter. Marisa Cappetta is AU/NZ.
If you mean me, I don't believe I've jumped to any conclusions here at all. I haven't even responded to this thread until now. The only Marissa/Marisa who has is Marisa Cappetta.

Congratulations, Kandice! What a good place to be, as a businessperson and an artist.

How great. Will you be staying at a casino where everything is right at hand?

I've never been there. But the Liberace Museum has top priority. WOO HOO!
And since we're huge throbbing fans of CSI, we're going in our official capacity as Forensic Detectives......hee hee (or whatever they're called) ~~ Sooz

I don't know where we're staying, actually. Mr. Ivan will be coming with us! (FUN) Many in Kevin's family will be there too, like a mob. [Kev's] Auntie Joanne is in a play, and that's our purpose. She and I are giggling over the Liberace Museum's irresistibility. (She and I both are cult fans of Pee Wee's Big Adventure, so you can imagine....) I'm really looking forward to it, though a few days ago I was so depressed (had a big dip down) that I was cancelling the trip for me, was going to stay home. (Not to be dramatic, just
-- I was so damn depressed.)
Funny how things like that work. (I hate fibro) ~~ Sooz

I know what you mean - but I am glad you're feeling well enough to go now, because it sounds like so much fun! :)
Me too. (And there are spas in Vegas......) ~~ Sooz

Glad that dip is leveling out. Was this after the painful day getting Merc? I know that pain is exhausting and causes mental fatigue.
Tina
No, it was two days before! Haw haw. Then I had that painful day driving (with Merc). It was a crappy few days, and I was just shaking my head and going, "Sheesh." ~~ Sooz

Geez, did it not occur to them that maybe you're overwhelmed with orders because it's right before show season, and that's why you had to stop taking them?
Maybe they need a first-grader to come explain cause-and-effect to them.
-Kalera (feel> Not nasty really, just people who are irritated that I decided this right
Hooray graduation! I cannot believe you are so close... wait, yes I can!
-Kalera
Aw no! I was going to order some soon!
Charlie.
I guess I am slow to get to this thread. It reminds me of a plaque a fellow grad student had on his desk back in the dark ages: "ILLIGITIMI NON CARBORUNDUM" for those of you who have forgotten their latin it means "don't let the bastards wear you down" I think it is appropriate to this situation. Keep making those incredible creations of yours and as long as you can pay your bills, the nay sayers can (pardon my french) "eat shit and die" -as they say in the army. Those who have no appreciation of "ART" don't deserve to have any. "Let those who don't want any, never have the experience of having had any". The rest of us can appreciate the gifts you bestow upon us.
Sorry if I got a little far afield there, this is my third day of being unable to turn my head. It hurts too much.

I think I missed the last quote I put in my post. It should be "Let those who don't want any have memories of having had none" It is a multiple entendre applicable to many contexts.
Oooh sparkly-ies everywhere!!!
And I love CSI - hope y'all have the best of times!!
OH MAN. That's awful. I'm so sorry. :-( ~~ Sooz
