I sent this to my niece about a month ago in hopes she and her groom would come up with something unique for their first dance, but no luck! They were traditional with that part, but their ride from the church to the reception was a little out of the ordinary. My new nephew drives truck for a living, and has a very well-cared for dump truck. They cleaned it all up and the wedding party rode around town in it (had to climb a ladder to get in!) - the sign on one side of the truck bed read, "She thinks my dump truck's sexy!" (which will sound familiar if you're a country music fan). We had visitors from Hyde Park, NY, staying in the church (they were here to help with the continuing flood clean-up), and they were quite impressed with the "Iowa limo"!

I don't think there will be any clever first dances at our shindigs either. I think the dump truck idea was great!

I think she "inherited" the idea from her mother. When her mom (my sis) was married, the guys her husband worked with decided the truck idea would be fun - but neither the bride nor the groom knew about it! When my DS and her new husband came out of the church, the guys grabbed DS and hoisted her up into the back of the truck - I hadn't seen my new BIL move as fast as he did when he scrambled up there after her! He was sure they were going to kidnap her. It got really exciting when the guy driving the truck chose the wrong lever and the truck started to "dump"!

Although one member of the family did choose a perfectly respectable limo ride to get from the church to the reception, others have had hayrack rides, horse-drawn carriages, and other such modes of transportation (I think one rented a trolley car). Fun times!

Gosh, you first one will be in two weeks! Are you ready for it? Packed yet? Any last minute things we should worry about for you?

Let's see......you're welcome to worry about everything you can think of! We can start with the weather....we want the bride and groom to get safely into town. Then we want the guests and bridal party to travel with no problems. I still need to tweak some wardrobe items. My mother has been croaking with a bronchitis and cold for almost two weeks ....she is on meds, but we need to get her well so she can fly from Texas to Iowa....and stay for a month....come to think of it...we can worry about my mental health having company in my house for a month!!!!!!. Oh dear....don't get me started....I could go on and on. Thanks for remembering! I feel better already knowing someone is sharing the weight! Speaking of weight.............well, it's too damn late to worry about that now!!!

I would have loved to have seen the bride and groom do something like that at the wedding we went to last weekend, it would have been interesting to say the least. As it was everyone was waiting for a major wardrobe malfunction as it was. The bride really did need to have straps on her dress.

I was also thinking that bride in the video had an excellent fitting wedding dress. She looked very comfortable. Kudos to the alterations person! I get so annoyed watching girls in strapless dresses yanking on the bodice to hitch them up. Either have straps or a get a good fit!

This dress even had faults at the back. The stiff panel behind the back lacing kept on riding up right from the start. Thanks goodness for the gay guy who finally fixed it even if the 'fix' only lasted a short time
