OT: Christmas at our house

DH and I opened our presents last night - 2 reasons...1, so that we didn't have the chaos of trying to open our presents while handing presents out to the children and 1 - so the children could open their presents without having to wait for us to open ours.

Hubby received some dress shirts for work, chocolate covered cherries, a travel coffee mug that he can put pictures of the children around the outside (changeable even!), season 2 of Star Trek Enterprise, a "robot" light (found it at Lowe's and he mentioned thinking it was cool....several months ago.

I received 2 Tinkerbell shirts, Tinkerbell slippers (too cute..they say "Don't even *Tink* about it!"), Tinkerbell floor mats for the van that is still at the shop, a Tinkerbell holographic sticker for the van, and...."Creating your Perfect Quilting Space" - a book I've wanted for over a year but just never got around to purchasing, some ornaments for the tree (MIL bought me a Barbie one from Lenox), some clothing from Mother.

The children received so much stuff - not from us, but from the grandparents - that once everything was opened and we relocated stuff to their rooms, they played right through lunch time and didn't get into any arguments or anything!!! They are currently in their rooms, playing again.

We had such a peaceful day, but we needed it. The only down side was that it was grey and rainy, so DH and I feel completely exhausted....even though the children let us sleep until nearly 730!!!

It was a fun, family day....no screaming and fighting, just gentle reminders to play with their own toys and that they needed to be quiet while the adults rotated who took a nap .

I hope that your holiday celebration was as calm and enjoyable as ours was.

Larisa, off to try and finish up more SOldiers Angels blankets to get them mailed off either tomorrow or Wednesday

A description of a perfect day!

Sounds like a wonderful time was had by all.

We spent the day fairly quietly, too. James opened his stocking prezzies at about 6 am and tinkered quietly until about 9:30, when he brought his lazy parents a cuppa!

We climbed into clothes and unwrapped prezzies. I think the one that caused us all the greatest amusement was the 20Q gadget: tries to guess what object ou are thinking of in 20 questions. That damned thing is so SMUG when it wins! ;)

We had a light lunch (after skipping breakfast!), and then ate wild boar for dinner at about 7:30. We watched the tape of the Christmas Dr Who, and then ate the christmas pud! :)

Today we are going out to take Christmas wishes to a friend, and consume mince pies and mulled wine. :)

There will then be a short hiatus while we re-group before venturing out to spend lavish amounts of book tokens! I already have wonderful combined Christmas & birthday reading from my bro: The Tudor Tailor, and Dress in Detail from arround the world. :) :)

Another Dr. Who fan! Woo Woo - thank you all you Aussies for that marvelous remake of a program I loved years ago. I do have to admit that sometimes it is hard to understand Rose - she does have a strong accent when she is speaking quickly. LOL I really have to listen closely.

I think it's made by BBC Wales and their Canadian colaborators. It's shot in Cardif. Rose is played by Billie Piper - a true Londoner! :)

James is a HUGE fan of the Doctor in all his incarnations, even unto the olds black and white ones with Mr Hartnel as the good doc.

I wish Christopher Ecclestone had done more than oe series... David Tennant is good, but Christopher was really sexy!

Mine was wonderful! It was the first holiday dinner that _I_ didn't have to cook all by myself in about 15 years. I have a new SIL with a new kitchen that just got finished the day before Christmas. The food she cooked was delicious, but if it had tasted like sawdust I would have thought it was the best ever, cause (and I'll say it again-) I Didn't have to cook it!!!!

I love my family and friends and I love cooking big meals for them but it seemed to me there were only a few days between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. Am I wrong?

Cindy
