OT: Exciting News..... and a little on topic too

Great news received today! Ryan (our special needs kiddo) has been selected to be participant in the 2010 USA Games -- the National Games of the Special Olympics! He will be competing in the Pentathlon at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln in July.

I'm hoping that DH and I will be able to join him. (He will be traveling without us... with the coach and his teammates! This is a first for this kind of experience. He has traveled often and far from home, but always with Mom and Dad! I know he'll do great!)

So when the time comes, I'm hoping to find a few quilt shops in Nebraska... and if we drive instead of fly -- I'll try to convince him to make a few stops through Iowa.

When the time comes -- I may be looking for shop recommendations not far off I-80!

Anyhow -- back to Ryno -- we're quite proud! He's both excited and nervous. So is Mom! LOL

Fantastic news, Kate! I'm so happy for you and Ryan both. What an honor.

Let us know if you're driving - once you get to Eastern Iowa, hopefully KJ and/or I will be available for a meet-up.

Go Ryan go!!! That is very cool. I hope it is a great time for all. I have no idea of the location but I sure would love to visit the shop (shops) that our Joan works for and does so many samples for. That would be fun. Taria
