OT: Expected, but still hard

Mom has taken a sharp turn for the worse. She is just too fatigued by the chemo treatments to eat and drink and she ended up so dehydrated that we took her to the ER yesterday. Obviously, she can't live in her little retirement community anymore.

The problem is, she doesn't really have enough money to afford any kind of full care facility except a Medicare funded place. Wouldn't put a stray gerbil there. Enough said.

I'm probably going to have to stay another week. But Lord, how will I afford it?? And physically I'm pretty near my limit.

Could use prayers and good wishes. Nightmist... dear lady you have an open door to do whatever you can think of that's good and right.

For all of us who are dealing with aging and ailing parents, this is a hard task. A very hard task.

Love to all, Sunny

So sorry, Sunny. Contact a non-profit hospice. I'm sure they can help you.

Sunny, I can relate...been there... check to see if there is an office for the aging in the community. They helped us out quite a bit.

Sunny: There are *many* facilities that will accept Medicaid patients. (I don't think you mean Medicare.) You do not have to use that particular one. Call around, ask around, and tour the nursing homes. One information resource is the local Agency on Aging or Elder Protection Division of the County, or what ever it is called there. BTDT, BTDT!! (((((HUGS))))) , prayers, and positive thoughts are headed your way. It's soooo hard to watch our elders go through this stuff... BTDT - it's tough on them, and extra hard on their families.
