OT - Flat Stanley

Giles has brought home Flat Stanley, or Flat Charley, as she calls him. We took him to the art museum to see the Money exhibit there. (He wasn't allowed in that part, but did get to see the rest of the museum.) Now he needs to travel. Would someone like to volunteer to host Flat Charley? He would need to have a brochure or postcard or picture of where he is visiting included in his envelope. Flat Charley would really like to see 2 or 3 places before returning back to his First Grade classroom to tell of his adventures.

If you are unfamiliar with Flat Stanley, check him out here:

If you're willing to trust the holiday season postal chaos, you can send him to me in Germany. I'm in the directory! Roberta in D

I recently introduced Flat Stanley to a teacher at a local school here in rural Australia. If you don't mind the time for postage, maybe the two FS's could meet here and swap notes lol

No kids here, and no teachers, but Flat Charlie could travel to the Peaks of Otter, Point of Honor house in Lynchburg, Poplar Forrest (Jefferson house), D-day Memorial in Bedford, or any number of other fairly local nifty places with me. Bedford's Elks Home Christmas lights will be up soon too. Debra in VA See my quilts at

Depending on time constraints, I am sure that Flat Charlie would love a visit to the frozen north where I could show him historical sights and mountains and snow.... lots and lots of snow..... I live in a history rich area most famous for the building of the Alaska Highway. I live at Mile 0, the starting point.

Oh, we used to go camping at Peaks of Otter when I was a kid -- great memories. We used to get the best brown sugar pie at the coffee shop near the camp grounds.

On second thoughts could we have a travelling quilt diva or a figure a bit more like the infamous serial quilter? I would be happy to make (or help make) a fabric one.

Our 3rd grade class has a "FAT" Stanley. Their paper Stanley is kidnapped by the lunch ladies because he is too thin. They fatten him up. I made a large Stanley Doll and one morning he reappears as Fat Stanley. He has his own desk and his own set of books.

If Stanley makes it to KK in BC he really should make a quick trip down the road a piece to Seattle, Washington, he could have his picture taken with the infamous Troll under the bridge and the Space Needle and perhaps fly with the salmon tossing at the Pike Street Market........what fun!! Polly Ester has my address, I'm not in the directory :( HOWEVER, I do have pull with the Fire Department and could get him a ride on a SFD fire truck and also know a few police officers with the SPD that I am sure would make an interesting picture

I'm not in the directory, either... so I don't have access to those addresses, anyway. I've asked Giles' teacher to see when Flat Charley needs to be back home. As soon as I have a reply, I'll start setting up his itinerary!
