OT: Flooding

They are evacuating parts of my town right now. It's a good thing Jazz can work from home, because he can't access work otherwise- the roads are closed twixt us and there. We ought to be okay because we are on a hilly part, but I am worried about everyone else affected by these floods. I know NY isn't the only state affected by all of this rain. I hope everyone is okay out there.

It's supposed to ran all week.

We've had problems here, too. Two weeks ago, we got 7.5" in one day! Yesterday there was a flash flood watch, and one of the malls in Raleigh floods on a regular basis...yet they insist on keeping stores there! I'm glad I live in the highest area of the county, yet there are still areas that get swamped during times like this.

At least yesterday's rain wasn't cold, like the one 2 weeks ago. It made the swim meet soggy, but the kids didn't freeze. Oh, and we won! Spike even swam backstroke all by herself, first time ever!

I've seen some of the east coast flooding in the news here. Too bad you can't just box some of that up and ship it my way. We have been in need of some good rains for awhile. Please stay safe!!

So glad to hear that y'all are okay! We could sure use some of that rain down this way. Our lawn is beginning to look crispy!

Oh it isn't just TX ;-) It's definitely a universal redneck thing.... get drunk and play with explosives ... it's your American right and duty.... my personal favorite is still the one last year that hid the fireworks from the cops in the oven... and then forgot and turned it on........

It happens in Pennsylvania too. It's illegal there to use fireworks but they sell them to folks from out of state (like NJ) were is it also illegal to possess or use them. I live on the border and many folks have been photographed leaving the stores with NJ license plates on their cars.
