OT: Keep me in mind tomorrow. ..

Tomorrow afternoon I'm going to my dr and asking for referral to a pain clinic in Seattle. This month I ran out of my normal monthly narcotic prescription a week early. Never happened before. I have resorted to double doses of late to keep me from ripping hair out of my head or going pretty well ripping crazy. I'm used to pain and have dealt with the effects of it for years. This new development has taken the ballgame to a whole new level. Something has to change and chage quickly and dramatically. Life is nto about this kind of survival. So keep me in mind and send good vibes to my dr so he'll be open to what I'm asking. It'll be pricey but I don't care.

And to let you all know, when I go to my mailbox and find beautiful blooms, it makes my day. Thank you so much to every single person who has sent me such beauty and blessings.

Hugs, sunny

Polly, the pain clinic I'm asking for referral to is at Swedish Hospital, one of the biggest and most respected teaching hospitals in Washington State. The clinic has excellent reputation and is considered the best in the state for treating chronic pain. I know the problems with charlatans and quacks. These folks know their stuff.

Thanks so much for taking care of me. :)

Fingers are crossed, Love. I found the pain management course I did excellent. The nurses could suggest alternative medication, exercises to keep me from getting too stiff, and ways of coping when the pain stopped me doing things. I hope your clinic can be as useful to you.

Add my thoughts and prayers for you, Sunny. As a chronic pain person myself with fibromyalgia, I know how it wears you down mentally and physically. I really hope you get some help with yours. Donna

I hope you've made a list of ALL the diff meds you have tried to help control the pain, how often you took them and HAT KIND of relief they gave you...only helped the headache, foot pain, muscle but not joint, etc. THAT is very important. also, list EVERY PAIN you have, where it is, what pain number you normally have in that particular area. This was some of the 'required paperwork questions' I had to fill out even before I was seen by the (B'splat Pain Dr). I have more than Fibro to contend with but that particular Dr got the Fibro under manageable control for the most part....including how to 'prevent' TMJ at the DDS.

B'fly, so glad that you chimed in. I had nothing more to contribute but that Sunny be her own advocate - not easy when you're in big time serious pain. Polly

Which reminds me: Sunny, ASK if you need help filling out the paperwork.I had to and they had someone that would/could. Make sure you take a list of: 1) meds you are on, meds that you can't take/didn't work

2) any surgeries and when (brief explanation if they were for more than one thing at the same surgery) and 3) a list of ALL the diagnoses you have had--even if you are over them: (measles/mumps/chickenpox) HTH Butterfly

Sunny, let me know who you go to, as you know we are close to Seattle, I have pain for completely different reasons to you (arthritis in my hip, amongst other things, but at age 30 it's a long time before replacement is an option), I do the narcotic thing too, thankfully a fairly low dose keeps things at an ok level, but my doctor wants me to consider other options, but she doesn't know anyone that she thinks is likely to be helpful (and she's been in the area for a long time), which might be at least in part the fact that there doesn't seem to be many connections between doctors on the Eastside and Seattle itself, they only seem to happen when you have a diagnosis that means you have to go to Childrens/UW/Swedish and my condition is rare enough that though there is a geneticist at UW who does diagnosis, my doctor hasn't found anyone who has any specific expertise in treating, which doesn't surprise me that much as in the UK there are only two teams, one in Glasgow and the other in London. So any leads are useful, the last one we tried began the consultation with "you know more about this than me..." which sadly is true, but I don't have the anatomy knowledge and the like to apply it.

Good Luck

Anne
