OT:MomUpdate - sad news

My mom passed on Monday morning surrounded by her family. I had received a call Sat. at 4am that she was back in the hospital. We managed to get on a standby flight and spent Sat. and Sunday with her while she was still fully aware. She wanted nothing but to go home. At first, it didn't seem that it would be possible, since it was a sunday and there was difficulty getting the pain meds, but the hospice nurse moved heaven and earth and made it happen. It was was she wanted and she is now with my Dad and at peace. I will be home on Friday.

I'm so sorry... How blessed that you were able to get there in time to be with her in her last hours. Every time I hear another story about Hospice workers/volunteers... I am more and more impressed with how well they do their job. To be able to allow your mom to pass at home in the way she wanted is truly a blessing indeed.

Prayers to your entire family.

Thank God for those hospice nurses, I don't know what we would have done without ours either. Hugs to you, my dear. Rest when you get home, you'll need the energy. I'm so glad your mother can rest now, and be with your Dad. And to have what she wanted at the last, how marvelous for her.
