A couple years ago (or possibly more, as time does fly!) there was a PBS show about the development and politics of the birth control pill. It was fascinating! I stumbled upon it as I was channel surfing and was mesmerized. I've never seen it again and I think I tried to search for it soon after with no success.
I'm going to make a stunning confession for a 50 year-old woman who was in college through the mid 1970s: I never took the pill. Not when I was young and dating, not when I was older and married and only wanted two children. And when I was "croning" I never took hormone replacement therapy. Oh, that's a lie. I did for 3 months. Made me a raging, angry, explosive woman. Never mind the physical symptoms.
I never liked the idea of chemically changing my body that much. Seems kind of quaint, I know, but that's just me.

Howdy!
I took the pill for a few years, until we decided to have kids. Once I stopped the pill, my weekly migraines stopped, too.

Thanks Sandy!!! I sure couldn't find it back when it was on. I'd love to watch it again.
Hooray! With a little searching and clicking....I found the DVD for sale! I think I'll order myself a mother's day present! the problem will be trying to just order one item.....everything looks interesting!!!!!
I started on the pill when I was 19, after surgery found both ovaries totally encysted, and the size of grapefruit. Was on some form of it for most of the next 30+ years.(Even after a tubal I ended back on it to regulate hormones....sigh) Did have some good side effects..... and a few negative ones depending on which type and so on.
