Donna; one of he pattern companies had a pattern years ago, but I use this as an opportuniy to get rid of a tie I don't like and use it as a pattern. The tric is to get it cut on the bias. Paris

I made a number of ties about 20 years ago !! Still have a lot of them and they will go into a "someday" quit. I remember that it took 3/4 of a yard of material (45 wide) to make one. It takes 1 yard to make 2 ties. Being cut on the bias and all !

Then the lining for the tie ( how we did it in the old days) was cut from the same pattern except that you trimmed it down about 1/4 inch all around. When you sewed the lining to the tie the tie would have a nice point and be forced to have a bit of the tie material showing underneath - - can't explain - you have to try it !!

almost no hand sewing !

Good luck finding the pattern.

I just made a silk taffeta tie from the Vogue pattern- this very week- and it was a HORROR!!! The pattern had EIGHT pieces and a terrible nasty little tuck and pleat with no purpose but to mess with my mind and make the points of the tie all bulky and difficult to turn and make pointy! I ended up re-designing the damn thing and making a second pattern of my own and then the tie came out nicely. If you want the damn Vogue pattern, just email me with your mailing address. I don't want the damn thing in my house!!!! Damn, damn, damn.
