OT Ping Polly

Better take the yorkie out to fertilize and water the yard. Get the boat and tie it to a porch post.

We got another 5 days of storms headed this way. They are just off shore in the Gulf. Should be here by this afternoon. NOAA is predicting it to storm through Monday. Saturday and Sunday to reach 90 degrees. YIKES!!!!!

There goes my holiday grilling. Grilled chicken, potato salad, baked beans, Devil Dog Cake and Iced Tea. Back to the hot kitchen.

Sounds good Kate. I'll be over. I have a big umbrella.

Our weatherman, who is something of a nut, has warned us of a stray thunderstorm. Yeah, right. Like all the other ones march in formation. Polly

One of your stray thunderstorms landed here in the high desert. It was over 100' for several days and today it is cloudy and even some sprinkles coming down. (that is a lot for this time of year here) The wind has blown some of my apricots out of the tree. There probably aren't a dozen on the tree all together. SOme are actually almost ripe. That is really early for them.

Take care all of you down there where you really have big weather. TAria

Well now, Taria. That one slowed me down for a while. I was trying to imagine a 100 feet storm; I guess that could happen. Eventually I realized you meant it was one hundred degrees. Let me teach you one of my cute tricks. Hold down the alt key. (It is probably to the left of your space bar.) While you are holding it down, go over to the numeric pad and type in

0176. Voila! or viola. You can do a degree sign. You will impress a few people. Some days a few is all we can hope for. Polly°

...if you're on a Windows machine. On a Mac you'll see an infinity sign for that code. (And for all I know, on Linux you might see a glowing blue pentagram while low chuckles come out of your monitor). That sort of stunt is never portable.

d-e-g-r-e-e-s, please.

Taria, we had record high temps Sun.(104°) Mon.(110°) and Tues. Today we are overcast, getting some sprinkles/showers moving through the valley. The projected High for today was some where around 78°. Crazy weather for sure.

106° here was the high. Thankfully, you win. My sil is threatening to move to the phoenix area. I think she is headed there this weekend house hunting. SHe seems to visit there when the weather is not too bad. I hope she knows what she is getting in to. I hope all our rctq folks in the tornado hit areas are safe tonight.

I can do low-fat doughnuts. Low calorie is out of the question; especially with a nice chocolate glaze. You have to eat at least 4 of them to decide if they're really, really good. Polly

On a Mac, hold down the shift and option/alt keys while typing an 8, and you'll see the degree sign. No strange codes to remember.

No matter which it's done I only get a '?' For those who wish to know what I read newsgroups with, I believe it's vi, using tin to write posts.

It worked! I see a degree sign! All I can put it down to is that DH had to put in a new hard-drive and while he was at it updated the OS, must have updated a few other things as well.

Ah-ha! I was wondering (as I read the NG from the bottom, rather than the top, today!) why you had become 'Polly degrees' >g<

You told me about that site ages ago, and I am forever grateful!! . In message , Polly Esther writes

Please tell us you don't do that. You don't really read the newsgroup from bottom to top do you? That's rather like reading a book backwards. (Of course, I have often read the last chapter first to be sure I like how it ends.)Polly

"Patti" Ah-ha!
