OT: snow pictures

The sun finally came out for a few hours today between snow flurries!! Yay! Here is some of what we have sitting around here as far as snowbanks go. The pictures dont do justice to the actual amount I'm afraid.

The mounds you can see in the backyard photos are actually around 6 feet high now and we havent been able to get out there to shovel off our patio yet so I imagine they will climb higher yet.

pile right in front of my picture window is around 6 feet high and I amhoping it wont need to be piled any higher!! We are getting a call for warm weather for 2 days and then three days of rain........... Does anyone have a spare Ark in the back yard they are willing to lend out for a month or so???? LOL

Wow!! Coming from an area that gets cold but doesn't have snow that is doubly impressive. I know this is not what you need to hear right now - but it really looks pretty from where I am sitting in parched (now officially 11 year drought) and still warm-to-hot SE corner of OZ

LOL well for a couple days I would love to trade places but only for a couple....... I cant stand the heat. I have far too much insulation to stand high temps like you get there.

We have had less than an inch of precip this season. I now see where all the moisture must have gone! Good golly that is a lot of snow. I've never in my life lived in snow country. I can't even imagine it. You all are a brave lot. I'm glad you shared the pics cause I didn't even come close to imagining what you are dealing with. Wish I could send you some sunshine. Warm hugs to you all and thanks for sharing the photos. Taria

Oh, KK, you're right! Even at 100 degrees, that will take some time to melt! Warm rain will get rid of it the quickest, but, ugh, the mud.

Think I'll shut the air conditioner off now. I'm getting cold just from looking at your white stuff out back.

Knew there was a reason we left MI so many years ago :)

That is an impressive amount of snow. It looks so pretty to me.

We didn't get any this year, not much rain either so we are starting out the warm months with a water deficit and all of the dead leaves and grasses that didn't break down during the winter like they usually do. Big fire hazard. Debra in VA See my quilts at

Well, I've just never seen anything like that. I had to make 2 trips through the pictures and sit here looking a long time just to believe that was real. How beautiful. How formidable. How long does it take to make it go away? Does it go away? Astounded Polly

Yeah, we were there in August 2001. Not a speck of snow there then! As I said to KK in an earlier post - we were amazed at the acres and acres of hay that grows in their area. We just didn't think of hay growing that far north - although a lot of it was varieties we don't grow here in Idaho.

Up here in Maine, we call this time of year "MUD Season".... Hang in there KK, Spring will soon follow. I'm with you - cannot take the heat of southern summers - plus the insulation factor ! Keep the faith - just saw the first flock of geese heading northward, and we still have about a foot of snow (covered with an ice sheet) on the ground! BUT, the geese somehow know when it's time to go north. ME-Judy

Oh would I love to hear the honking in the sky and see the V.... Our spring birds here are so confused LOL On the plus side, the ravens have left for the season and the crows have not yet returned so our garbage is relatively save on the curb for a couple more weeks!
