OT Spunky Lady Bitsy Bag

This is the last photo for a while. I'm not going to post about pics for every bag I make. I'll wait until I have 10 more done before I do this again. (sheepish grin) If you click on the picture of the Bitsy Bag on my WebShots you'll see a larger pic and a description below the larger pic.

Great bag, Leslie. I do like the 'rectangle' that way round. Bags are often wider than high. I like the feeling that once something is in there, it won't fall out. Like the appliqué very much. I hope you use that again. . In message , Leslie & The Furbabies in MO. writes

I have a dear friend who is always on the lookout for THE perfect travel bag. It MUST have an outside accessible pocket that will hold maps, train schedules and guide books. I think your latest bag would have to have a deeper outside pocket to hold that sort of thing. Just a suggestion. Maybe a pretty one on the front and a deep one on the back would be nice. Your projects are looking just great!

Great idea! I'll see if I can incorporate it without throwing something else off. Thanks! (Thinking maybe only on the larger bags???)

I thought of Kathyl's post this afternoon, and thought that, apart from the travel things which are handy to have a large pocket for, it would be a great boon when taking a bag to a quilt show to have a pocket large enough to put the Show Guide in. I always want to have one - to make sure I don't miss anything - but I just hate having to carry it round in my hands all day.

If you made a rectangular bag, like the bitsy bag, and made it 9" x 12", that would take standard sized paper. Would that be possible? .

That's pretty. I'm trying to work out the fixing of the strap. In pacture 1 when the bag is shut the strap looks as though it is fastened to the sides in the normal way. However, when the bag is fully expanded, it still looks as though the strap is attatched at the top of the sides, but this is an expanded top.

Am I being blind to the obvious?

The strap is attached to the sides of the outside of the bag before the lining is sewn to the top of the outside of the bag. I sew back and forth about five times to make sure the straps are secure. So the straps just come out of the seam around the top of the bag.
